Oliver Tran is a current student at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, studying photojournalism. He was born in 2005, and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Tran became intrigued with photography at the young age of 5 when he was given a point and shoot camera that was in his hands constantly. Since then he has been focused on pursuing a career in the field of photojournalism. Oliver is passionate about street, travel and documentary photography. His biggest inspiration comes from the book "It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War" by Lynsey Addario.

In 2022 he interned at Silverhouse Studio, shadowing and working with commercial photographer John Christianson. That experience led to working as a photo assistant on shoots for Target Corporation. Some of his achievements include awards from the Minnesota State Fair and published work with Twin Cities PBS and RIT’s Reporter Magazine.

He has a strong interest in analog photography and enjoys shooting 35mm film in his free time. In his work, Oliver always attempts to capture not only the emotion of his subjects but also the emotion within the scene, he believes that’s what makes an image compelling and what brings the photograph to life.
